Kedar is a simple flute player living in a small village during the final years of the Dwapar Yug. He falls deeply in love with a girl named Charvi. Their love is quiet and pure, but they both know they can never be together because of the strict rules of their society. They meet in secret by the river, finding comfort in each other’s presence while the world around them begins to fall apart due to the coming Great War. As the war begins, Kedar is forced to leave his village to serve as a messenger for the army. He promises Charvi he will return, but the chaos of the era is too great. While he is away, a terrible misunderstanding leads Charvi to believe that Kedar has died on the battlefield. Consumed by a grief she cannot share with anyone, she loses all hope and eventually passes away, her heart simply giving up in the lonely silence of their meeting spot. Kedar eventually returns home, survived and desperate to see her, only to find that she is gone. He realizes that their "Prem-Yog"—their union of love—was never meant to happen in this world. The story ends with a broken Kedar sitting alone by the river, playing a final, sad melody on his flute as the era of Krishna ends and the darkness of the new age begins.
